From the Head of Secondary

Welcome to the Secondary section of The Regent’s School Pattaya website. I hope you enjoy browsing the pages and find the information you are looking for.

The Secondary School, at present, comprises 461 students of 44 nationalities and 65, mainly British, teachers, but also includes teachers from Australia, France, China, Canada and New Zealand.

Students working in an English lesson

The students follow a curriculum based on the English National Curriculum in Key stage 3 (Years 7, 8 and 9). In Years 10 and 11 the students follow the EDEXCEL GCSE course or the CIE (Cambridge International Examinations) IGCSE course, depending on which examination board is preferred by a subject area.  In Years 12 and 13 students follow the IB Diploma course. For more details of the (I)GCSE courses and IB diploma please refer to  (links to IB Diploma Programme Handbook and IGCSE handbook)

Academic performance is obviously a key focus in the school, but it is recognised that not all students will achieve to the same level and that each student has their own needs, whether they are a high achiever academically, have a particular talent in an area, or require a little more time and support with their studies.  The school, therefore, endeavours to support and encourage students on an individual basis with a variety of strategies

Student pastoral care is handled in the first instance by form tutors and then Key Stage Coordinators (pastoral) who work closely with subject teachers and parents to ensure the best care for students.  A happy and secure environment provides ideal conditions for students to thrive.

Sport Drama and Music programmes, alongside a busy activities programme provide a host of opportunities outside of the formal curriculum, catering to all tastes.

The Round Square philosophy permeates all levels of the secondary school, providing a balance to and complementing the academic side of the curriculum. Students are given a good deal of responsibility and their participation in the running of the school is real. Their views are welcomed and their contributions are valued.

In addition to the formal part of the curriculum we do try to instill in children traditional values. Appearance, manners and respect for others are high on our list of priorities and it is fair to say that these help contribute to the unique atmosphere at the Regent’s School; it is a very pleasant place to be.
